Health insurance and costs for iontophoresis units:
Here are some useful codes, that might help you get the money reimbursed from your insurance, although only a few health insurances will cover the costs for an iontophoresis machine:
Committee for the Prevention of Torture + Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System:
CPT / HCPCS Code: 97033
WHO | International Classification of Diseases (ICD)
ICD-9 Code: 705.21
Health Insurance Codes:
HIC/PIC Code: E1399 "Tapwater Iontophoresis"
FDA Classification Code
89KTB Iontophoresis, for specific use

I am interested in buying the Hidrex PS 500. How do I get Insurance to help with the cost (in USA) |
I've never heard that any insurance company in the USA will cover the costs of an:iontophoresis machine .

Thanks for your response. I also have another question. I am having a hard time deciding between Idromed 5 PC and Hidrex PS 500 (PC). Which one is more effective to treat hand and feet sweating (best results and least amount of time needed)? I would really appreciate an honest assessment. I see that with Hidrex PS, I can switch between pulsed and direct current, which may be useful. Also, does the Hidrex PS 500 (PC) have an 8 week trial guarantee like the Idromed 5 PC does?
Thanks, |
I would take the Idromed 5PC because this offers more power in the Pulsed Mode, so a treatment of hands and feet together is in the most cases successful. The 8-weeks trial we offer at the moment is the same for all iontophoresis machines.
