I posted this in the problems forum, but would also like to post here to give people who are considering purchasing the hidrexpsp1000 some useful details. In short, I would HIGHLY recommend this product. However, you must understand that the treatment requirements vary from person to person and it requires time and patience to get it right. That's where I am right now! :)
Firstly, I would like to thank Markus and his company for this great product shipped at a great price and great service. It was delivered incorrectly to my billing address rather than my shipping address, and they quickly reimbursed me without any issues. No prescription needed, which made it very simple to order. My story with hyperhidrosis, in brief: I have had hyperhidrosis as long as I can remember. And before that, my parents tell stories of how they always thought I was so worried all the time because I had perpetually wet hands when I was an infant and when playing on the park as a preschooler. Giving oral presentations and performances on stage in grade school were always miserable for me; and I’d be handing in tests to teachers with crinkled pages from the wetness from my hands. Middle and high school it continued to get worse (or perhaps, more just my perception of it) and also spread to my underarms and feet, though the palmar hyperhidrosis always interfered with my life and bothered me the most. Throughout this, I continued to play sports, do art (though ceramics was my art of choice, most likely since it was the only thing that wet hands didn’t affect my performance at all!), have boyfriends, volunteer, and pursue my dream of medical school. I tried drysol in middle school, with lots of irritation and little success, and a homemade iontophoresis machine mid-way through college. The schedule was very hard for me to maintain with this, but it gave me hope that it was a solution that may work for me. Nobody else in my family has this condition, and it’s been very difficult for family and friends to understand what a big issue this has been throughout my life.
Fast-forward to the future when I’ve finally ordered a professional iontophoresis machine: the Hidrex PSP1000! The machine itself is great and I highly recommend it. My only regret is not purchasing it earlier. The best ~$900 I ever spent! Very professional and sturdy-build, easy read-out, easy to maintain. For me, the most important factors in buying this machine were that it was not weird looking (so I would not feel embarrassed using it in front of my family, boyfriend), and that it had customizable settings. Don’t underestimate the importance of these factors. Since this is a treatment that you must maintain long-term, anything that ensures that you stick with it matters a lot in the outcome of curbing your hyperhidrosis.
Now, I would like to share the details of my treatment and ask some remaining questions: I never achieved 100% dryness on both hands with the Hidrex PSP1000 treatment, though it came close enough that I was very happy with the results.
1. Should I have continued with the main daily treatment for longer, or under different voltage/time conditions in order to achieve 100% dryness?
2. The first treatment (before starting every other day maintenance) was 17 consecutive days, though 26 days in total (because I skipped 2 days in the first 9 days of treatment, see below for explanation). In addition, I was only using P-70 and 20V during the majority of this time, before I experimented with increasing these variables. Did this decrease the effectiveness?
3. I will be backpacking for 1 month and cannot take the machine with me. What is the best way to prepare for the trip to have the driest hands possible for longest, and should I restart the initial daily treatment as soon as I arrive? Any suggestions for how to attain faster outcomes?
4. Now, I am nearing the end of my first maintenance phase and the effectiveness is definitely decreasing, from the peak of dryness I achieved (on about 5/7, which was day 4 of maintenance 1). How can I ensure that my hands maintain at their optimal dryness throughout maintenance? It is very upsetting to see that the outcome is getting worse (i.e. back to normal sweating levels) and I would like to counteract this!!
I have copied a table with the details of my treatment for those who are interested (I always appreciated when people on this forum posted maximum details about their treatment for others to learn from), and I will outline the main points below:
- began treatment on 4/8
- of the first 9 treatment days, I skipped 2 while still trying to figure out how to fit it into my schedule. I also did not know that when counting days that only consecutive days mattered (I read this on the forum on 4/17).
- From 4/17, 17 days of daily treatment
- On 4/24 (day 8), I switched many variables after doing some research on this forum. 1) minimize water level, 2) increase to P-90, 3) switch polarity weekly, 4) experiment with increasing voltage to what you can handle. This made a big difference in the outcomes I achieved, almost immediately (though impossible to distinguish between this and the effects of the overall treatment after some time)
- Maintenance every other day using the days until dry*1.5 formula
- From 5/4-5/11, hands felt perfect. So much so that I interviewed people at work during this time, went out to dinner in a crowded restaurant, and rode on a crowded and hot subway—and all the time would just smile to myself either seeing that my hands were not wet (previously, they would be dripping during these situations) or do things without even thinking about wet hands! Amazing!
- Decreased voltage to 20V around this time because it started being irritating to my skin despite covering any cuts with petroleum jelly (otherwise, I’ve had very little discomfort or irritation during the treatment)
- Starting around 5/15, hands started to feel substantially more sweaty, with entire fingers and even the sides of my palms being wet.

Thank you for your quick reply!
The problem is that I will be in many different countries (requiring many adapters) and will only be carrying a 7kg backpack (so no room for the Hidrex machine unfortunately). I think the best option is to treat before I leave and then do the initial treatment again when I get back.
What do you mean by pulse set not being optimized? Today, I will try decreasing the pulse width and increasing the voltage.
Do you have any additional advice for how to get quicker results when I return and have to do the initial treatment again? This time, I have much more experience and will use what I've learned from day 1 (e.g. low water level, reversing polarity only once a week, increasing voltage). |

I will be leaving June 19.
Just some updates on how the treatment has been since I last posted:
Approximately halfway through the first maintenance phase (every other day) the sweat returned. Not as much as it was originally before treatment, but I could feel it getting progressively worse. I received a very quick response from the support service suggesting me to start the daily treatment over again until I achieved dry hands. Happy to report that it took about 10 days to achieve this again. Today is the first day that I am back to about where I was at the highest success in the original treatment (entire hand 100% dry except fingertips very wet on both hands equally). Below are the details for every day. On 5/23 I was suggested to try P-70 and 42V. I still experimented some, but aimed to set it for 15 min, P-70, and 40V. You can see that the safety feature of the machine did not allow it to reach 40V every time.

you can switch to 80% and take a look if it persists
to your maintanance: When someone sees that sweating returns, after fiinishing the initial entering the maintanance phase - it is a sign that the dosage is too low.
What one can do is to increase the dosage (skin must be supervised and in perfect condition):
Prolonging treatment time
Increasing Current
Less pauses (more frequent treatments)
withing a certain cycle (e.g. magic number) to the point the sweat disappears is absolutly worth a trial...
To your trip It seems that you can only have small pauses with iontophoresis, so there is no way to bridge such a long "out of ionto" _________________ You are welcome...

After doing these sets, is your sweat coming back again ???? |
