I recently bought the Drionic iontophoresis machine and am unhappy with the terrible design. I asked their customer service why the machine had an upper platform (where you place your palm on a wet pad) in addition to a lower platform (where you submerge your fingers in a tank of water) with a dry divider in between. They said it was designed that way for "comfort" and because there needs to be a divider in between each metal plate (positive and negative electrical charge)for the treatment to work. As a result, the center of the hand/foot does not touch a wet surface and therefore is not treated.

I noticed that the Idromed instead has a flat platform of water in which you submerge the hand/foot. How is a positive and negative electrical charge created with this design?

The Idromed has two electrodes, one is positive charged and the other is negative charged, so there is no need for a divider in between each metal plate. In order to get the same results on both hands/ feet you only should change the polarity every week (switching + and - pole). The Idromed is very easy to use and also very efficient.
