I've been doing iontophoresis treatments on my feet for 6 days and each time I have extreme itching sensations during treatment. I'm worried because I can only treat from 5-8 mA depending on the day due to the prickling and feel those levels might be too low to acheive success.

These are my questions:

Are these sensations normal?

Should I try increasing the mA and just bear the prickling sensation?

I have the water level just at the toe knuckles. From reading other discussions, I know this might be high, but my feet sweat on the insides almost up to the ankle. At this point, should I try wearing the wet socks and lowering the water level and hopefully increase the mA?

Thanks for any help and advice.
Sincerely, Linda

I wanted to give an update on my treatments.

I started treatments on 8/3, once a day for 15 minutes.

After my last post, I reduced the water level to 700 ml in each tray (down from 1000 ml in each tray). I am able to do treatments from 8-10 mA.

8/16 was the first day I noticed that the soles of my feet were dry while the tops of my toes and sides of my feet were not. This was so exciting and amazing!!! I've never had a dry feeling on my feet while barefoot in warm weather!! My feet should have been sweating a lot--the tops of my toes had droplets of sweat running down, but the soles of my feet were dry and warm! What a great feeling to walk barefoot on the floor and not pick up crumbs/hair/lint on the bottom of my feet, or leave sweaty footprints, or feel like I'm going to slip!

So with great optimism and motivation, on 8/21 I started wearing socks during the treatments that cover only the areas of my feet that sweat to try and get the rest of my feet dry.

Yesterday, 8/24, I noticed that the soles of my feet are sweating again. So I did a treatment for 15 minutes with socks, and immediately after, another 15 minute treatment without socks.

I am hoping to have complete success on all surfaces of my feet. I will report back when this or any other changes happen. I still have intense burning and itching during treatments, but it now seems worth it for the dryness I experienced!

Markus, if there are other things I could be doing, please let me know. I'm overjoyed with this partial success I enjoyed for a few days and want to do anything I can to make it 100%.

As an aside in case it may help someone, I just wanted to mention that I went on vacation on 8/14 and the therapy time on the device wouldn't start when I put my feet in the trays. After researching some of the discussion topics here on the forum, I added a teaspoon of baking soda to each tray and the therapy time started right up. The water where I was on vacation must have been soft. Now that I am home, the device is working just fine with the water here.

Sounds good! Remember you are at the beginning of the therapy and most users can use more and more current, because the skin must get used to it slowly.
If you only have pain and itchy feels when wearing socks, get back to me.

hope it works soon 100%

1. Is it okay to reuse the same water for consecutive treatments? Or does it need to be fresh water each time?

2. When doing more than one treatment in a day, can one treatment be in the morning and the other at night? Or does greater success occur when they are close together, one right after the other?

Thanks for your help!

1. It would be better if you use fresh water every time.

2. It´s better to make one treatment in the morning and the other one in the evening/night!

Greetings !

I am on maintenance treatments now. I haven't been able to achieve 100% success, but the dryness I do experience is so worth every penny and every minute of treatment. I am having the most problem getting the sides of my feet and tops of my toes dry. When I treat my soles without socks, I usually do around 15-20 mA. When I treat the rest of my feet wearing socks, I can only do ~3-5 mA because the itching and burning is so intense.

Do you have any advise for decreasing the itching sensation while wearing socks?

Also, I stopped taking my multivitamin early on when I noticed that it was impeding my positive results. Once results are achieved can I start taking the multivitamin again? Do you know exactly which vitamin it is that prevents the iontophoresis from working?

Thanks for any help--I really appreciate it.

Many people use a 2 mm level for the soles and a 1-2 cm higher level for the sides and top of the toes.

Try this out yourself. yourself

In a reply to my post from August 26 you wrote

"if you only have pain and itchy feels when wearing socks, get back to me"

Can you help me with that? Is there something I could be doing to make the sock treatments less painful? Treatment without socks is fine.

Thank you and sorry to keep bothering you.

No problem, you are welcome, sorry that I didn't state this clearer:

Maybe it is worth a trying other materials.
Maybe it would be better to try wearing cotton socks, elastan socks or wool socks?

Maybe a 1-2 cm higher water level gives good results for the tops and sides..
You have to trial and error it yourself to find the best treatment options with the best feel for your private therapy. Iontophoresis is highly variable, so you must find solutions through trial and error .
...

I hope these hints will lead you to your best personal therapy.
