I'm a mid-30s male who has dealt with hyperhidrosis as far as I can remember. One of my brothers used to torment me and call me “soggyhands.” I remember being about 8 or 9 when he brought my awareness to my sweaty hands. At puberty, the hyperhidrosis intensified, and I've been dealing with it ever since. Unfortunately my mother was wrong when she told me that I'd outgrow it.

Sweaty hands have kept me from dating more women or even approaching many that I was interested in. It's made me avoid certain challenges like more exciting careers, because the prospect of having to shake people's hands is daunting. I have no doubt that it's cost me jobs when interviewing. I never really played sports that involved hand contact because it would make others aware that my hands were dripping.

I also remember in school that my papers would get smeared, and if I had to go to the blackboard the chalk would melt in my hands. Even now, I am always nervous about meeting new people because I don’t know if they will get me in a sweaty moment. Then I get nervous and my hands start dripping. The worst is when I shake someone's hand because it's unavoidable and see him try to discreetly wipe his hand off. That hurts!

In addition,my sweaty feet have led to a pretty bad case of athlete’s foot and fungal nails (both under treatment now). I avoid swimming and yoga (two things I enjoy!) because of not wanting to expose my bare feet. In the case of swimming, it has to do with the fungal infection linked to the hyperhidrosis.

I tried Drysol as a youth and found it didn't work at all for me. I had some limited success with Drionic, but the quality of the device is not that great and is uncomfortable to use for the necessary period of time. Having a doctor cut my nerves seems like asking for trouble, so I can't imagine getting the surgery. I'm not interested in dealing with a drug's side effects either. Unfortunately, the only thing that seems to work to keep my hands dry consistently is a cold, cold environment, which I hate.

I am very excited and waiting in anticipation for my shipment to arrive from Germany. I went ahead and spent the extra money to get the IdroMed PS because I figured that over the long haul the difference in cost will not be so great. If this works for me, I will have many years of use with the device so it will be worth it. It is a lot of money for me to spend, but I believe that every missed opportunity due to embarrassment or nervousness has cost me much more. I'm excited and look forward to sharing my results with the forum.

Wow buddy, I totally feel you pain. My hands have dripped sweat for all my life.
Iontophoresis was the ONLY thing that worked to stop the sweat. I hope you are having great results also.
