I have noticed lately that the Idromed 5 PC is very senstive, and it does not always recognize my palms and feet. Is this a common issue with the Hidrex machine as well?

Nomally only when the device thinks you are in overtherapy (the skin is dry)- this can be caused through a abnormal high body resistance - when you sweat the resistance is low
