Using an Iontophoresis machine for the initial treatment phase. After achieving dryness, using an antiperspirant like odaban once or twice a week for maintenance of dryness...
This would save loads of time as it takes hardly 5 mins for using an antiperspirant.

I have tried using an Iontophoresis machine with medications such as Robinul to stay dry in between my iontophoresis sessions. I take a 2mg Robinul capsule each morning when I get up in the morning. That one capsule is normally enough to help me stay dry. I sometimes use Avert as well.

The thing is even if one has to use a antiperspirant daily at night to remain dry, i feel it is ok, as it takes only 5 mins. Iontophoresis takes a long time, easily close to 50 mins for a treatment session of both hands and legs.
Think will give antiperspirants a try.

Hi,

Generally we recommend to use only water, without any additions. Also, if you notice an improvement with normal tap water, there is normally no need to think about using some additives.
Which iontophoresis device do you have? How do you treat? If you are not 100% satisfied with the results of the therapy, maybe we can help you to improve them? If so, please join the iontophoresis group:

Unfortunately we can not say if an antiperspirant will help you or not. Iontophoresis is reversible. If you stop the iontophoresis therapy, you will probably return to the original condition within some weeks, so I can not imagine that the antiperspirant could be less effective because you have gone through 5 years of iontophoresis.
Just note that in case of severe hyperhidrosis, antiperspirants are normally not a long duration solution, but this is also individual.

Okay thanks.
I have 2 questions.

1. What is the best ingredient that you would recommend i use with iontophoresis to get the best possible safe results, if i do not wish to do just a plain tap water treatment?

2. Since i have never tried a anti perspirant, would you recommend i give it a shot and stopping my iontophoresis treatment to check its effectivenss for me? Is there a chance of the anti perspirant being less effective for me now considering i have gone through 5 yrs of iontophoresis treatment?

Thanks.

Hello,

We normally do not recommend using antiperspirants for the same parts that are treated with Iontophoresis:

The thing is, i never used an anti perspirant. I jumped directly to Iontophoresis.
Believe It or not, it is recently that i came to know that even anti perspirant are available to control sweaty palms of hands.
I have been using iontophoresis for 5 years now for my problem.

So do you now think that the 2 could work together?
Also will the anti perspirant be effective for me? Considering ive been using iontophoresis for 5 years?

Either the antiperspirant works for you or it doesn't. If you need an Iontophoresis machine to get dry (I assume because the antiperspirant didn't work) then I don't think that you will be able to maintain the dryness after Iontophoresis with an antiperspirant. So I would recommend to only stick to the machine. Yes, you will need to spend a little more time on it but you will have a much more reliable effect.
