Hello - I am interested in purchasing an iontophoresis machine for the purpose of transdermal drug delivery. I would like to have laser hair removal treatment, but my hair is not dark enough. There are topical melanin preparations available that that deposit chromophores into the hair follicle, providing the follicle with the pigment necessary to effectively absorb the laser’s energy. Unfortunately, these melanin preparations are relatively ineffective when they are applied by hand, onto the surface of the skin – not enough pigment accumulates in the hair follicle to facilitate successful laser treatment. Transdermal iontophoretic delivery of the melanin solution would effectively supply the hair follicles with the necessary chromophores. Which iontophoresis machines do you recommend for the specific purpose of drug delivery? Thank you!
Hello,
Since you won´t need any high currents for this, we would recommend you the
AAM DE20 iontophoresis unit
.
If you´re interested in buying this unit, please let us know, so we can tell how exactly to proceed. This is because we don't have this machine in our english shops.

Hello -
I am interested in purchasing an iontophoresis machine for the purpose of transdermal drug delivery.

Electronic Transdermal Iontophoretic Drug Delivery
Iontophoresis for drug administration:
Iontophoresis can be used to deliver medications into the body. It is a conservative, non-invasive therapy, used specially to treat conditions like arthrosis, or as a pain therapy.
Ions transport the medication through the skin into the bloodstream and the tissue. The medication suitable for iontophoresis has to be loaded either negative or positive by the manufacturer.
For example, if a patient has to treat his ankle, then the medication is applied directly to the ankle on one side. If the medication is loaded positive, then the +Pole (or + electrode) has to be placed over the medicated area, the -Pole on the other side. The -Pole will then attract the medication through the skin. If the medication is negative, then the -Pole has to be placed on the medicated area and the +Pole on the other side. The +Pole will attract the medication.
If the medication is not specified for + or -, you can place the medication on every electrode.
Iontophoresis Drug Delivery
For iontophoresis drug delivery a low mA or voltage is used and it works best with a direct current device. Also, the treatment time is set normally to 5 minutes, else the drug will almost completely "walk" through to the other electrode.
For this special purpose please contact us, we hold a range of "cheaper" iontophoresis drug delivery machines (that are not so powerful for iontophoresis on hands and feet, like the professional iontophoresis system we have in our shops)
For further information, please ask your treating doctor.
