Hello Hidrex!

I have hyperhidrosis of the hands, feet, and armpits, and I have been researching units to buy and I very much like the features, design, and customer reviews of your PSP 1000 device.

I do have the following two questions about this device:

1) When the milli Amps are manually set on the device at the beginning of a treatment session, does the device automatically adjust the voltage to maintain the desired amperage (current flow) during the session if the resistance changes during the treatment session?

2) It appears that the user can adjust/set either voltage or milliamps. Which parameter do you recommend using (volts or milliamps?) and why?

Lastly, I really like the feature that you have incorporated that provides for a gradual increase/decrease of current during the sessions so you don't feel a shock. Also, the pulsed option is very nice to have.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
from San Francisco, California

To your questions
1 - Yes the Hidrex tries to maintain the wished for settings during the Iontophoresis session in between a certain bandwidth that provides you a safe Iontophoresis treatment - in long time Iontophoresis sessions the body resistance is variable.
2 - For the Hidrex Iontophoresis machines, even when you are inside the priority support, we recommend to stay in volts, in regards to your first question you set up the voltage- what you can't see is that the milliampere will be adjusted and levelled to your personal body resistance
because of the the fact the voltage setting allows the adjustment in 60 steps, the milliampere will allow only 30 steps. Also when you speak of Volts, we know you have a Hidrex machine, and when you speak about milliamperes, we know that you have an Idromed device.

Yes, the Hidrex allows you to adjust the current during the therapy, we think the feature of switching the Iontophoresis machine from direct current to a pulsed current, is not that great a thing as you may think, because actually most users stay comfortable in the pulsed mode, the direct current load compared to pulsed one, is too hard to stand, it is also an old school feature.
With direct current, it is not a pleasure to treat with Iontophoresis.

The only cool thing with this feature is to compare, how strong you can feel the current, if you switch from pulse to direct current mode.
Then you can see how the users of Iontophoresis felt in the past with professional Iontophoresis devices, often the current of direct current is much too strong to set up the levels that you wish to reach.
This is also the reason some may think Iontophoresis does not work correctly. To achieve success with Iontophoresis, you have to get over a certain threshold with the current, we call it the sweat relief breakpoint, and after getting it to work, a good amount of current helps to reduce the length of the therapy sessions or the frequency, which determines how much - or how long you have to treat during a week.
