Hi there,

I know that Steel plates are more resistant to patina, etc and require less cleaning.

But I would like to ask if there is a difference in effectiveness between using Aluminium and Steel electrodes. I.e. does Aluminium conduct electricity better than Steel, vice versa?

Also, why doesn't the original manufacturer (Idromed) provide Steel plates if they are better? I know some people are allergic to Chromium, etc but are there other reasons why they choose Aluminium over Steel?

Thanks a lot!

In regards to the current spread, both are equal. alu has a slight better conductivity, but the element that is responsible for the conductivity (the water itself) has a much lower conductivity, so it does not matter if the first element of the current chain is alu or steel - the 2nd element water is the worst conductor in the conduct chain of iontophoresis.

Why the idromed only comes with alu plates you have to ask the manufactorer.

There are no other reasons than a possible allergic reaction to take alu over stainless steel ..
